Oohh I love this little view into your handmade home.

I do love a good craft project and used to make so many of my own clothes pre kids.

When they came along I had to say goodbye (for now) to the longer projects and instead pick up ones that were a lot quicker. I’ve loved getting into making Waldorf style dolls and soft toys for them.

My Pinter board is full of quilting ideas though for the day I have a sewing machine over here.

I haven’t made anything for a while but the other day I hand sewed a tear in my boys shorts and it was so satisfying. You’ve got me wanting to get crafty again!

Yes! I too find mending so satisfying. Which reminds me I need to get onto the clothes I've had stashed in my mending basket for too long. Little projects now, certainly, while we dream of the bigger ones to come some day 💕

Lovely article. I make most of my outerwear. Scrunchies too and I give them as gifts. I’ve made a few baby quilts for nieces. Years ago when I retired I set myself the challenge of making all birthday cards. I cook everyday from scratch, it doesn’t take that long and I find it meditative. My husband makes our bread. When I was working full time with a family I didn’t have the time for making clothes or art. I wished I’d have properly learned how to knit and sew. In all honesty I don’t have the bandwidth to learn it now.

Thank you Kim. I too find cooking meditative and never tire of it. My husband is the bread maker in our family also. There are many ways we can work with our hands to create magic. Thank you for sharing your favourites 🫶

Such a great perspective shift Stephanie💕 thank you for sharing! It’s inspiring me to pull out my sewing machine and create something (I haven’t used it since before my 5.5 year old was born?!)

I’ve also had the phrase “what am I passing down to my kids” ringing in my head lately- this feels supportive of that too ✨

Cards, I never buy greeting cards, they're always hand made. Not some fancy papercraft card, mind you. But made with love anyway.

Same! 🙌 I've indoctrinated the children into card making too. Who doesn't love a child crafted card?

Yes, the kids make their own cards now too. I love my Father's Day cards made by them rather than some Hallmark waffle.

Oh goodness, yes! I love handmade anything. I also buy up the sweet hand knitted or sewn things at the op shop knowing someone spent time and heart creating them ✨. The best is making something for someone else who you know treasures handmade things too.

I do that too ☺️ I've found some gorgeous knitted cardigans and beanies at the op shop over the years.

What beautiful treasures! Your family is oh so creative! You can just see the love and happiness poured into each item that has been crafted. Thank your the book recommendation- my mum has given me her old sewing machine but I have been too overwhelmed to start any projects. I will have to check it out for inspo.
